Who processes this data
The controller is CryptoManiatics, an independent publication of LAOS Technologies, which operates cryptomaniatics.com. To exercise any of the rights explained here, write to us through the contact form on the home page; you do not need to give a reason.
The infrastructure is provided by Cloudflare (the network and the endpoint that receives measurement) and by LAOS Account, our own service where measurements from all LAOS sites are aggregated: it is not a third-party analytics platform. Google (Google Tag Manager and Firebase Analytics) only comes into play if you consent, as explained below.
This data is not sold, not rented and not shared with anyone for their own purposes.
Two different things, with different permissions
This is the most important part of the page, because almost every website blurs it. Two things happen here and each has a different legal basis.
A) First-party audience measurement. Counting how many people come in, to which article, from roughly where, and whether the page is fast. It is first-party: it stays here, it is an aggregate count, it is not combined across sites, it does not feed advertising and it builds no profile of you. It starts on entry with minimised technical, security, performance and usability events, unless you turn on the separate objection on this page.
B) Marketing, campaign attribution and Google tags. Using data for marketing purposes, knowing which ad you came from, and enabling Google Tag Manager and Firebase Analytics. This can go to a third party and feed advertising products, so it only starts when you press «Accept» (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
The panel decides only this second purpose: «Accept» records marketing as granted and can enable its tags; «Cancel» records marketing as denied and does not erase or stop first-party measurement. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control do not replace the separate objection to measurement; use the switch below if you want to stop it.
What is collected
The first-party measurement that starts on entry collects a randomly generated pseudonymous identifier stored in your browser, which carries neither your name nor your email and does not travel between sites; the start and end of a visit; which article you open; and approximate technical data such as device type, browser language and country.
The text you type and the contents of forms are never collected through the measurement system. If you write to us through the contact form or subscribe to the newsletter, that data is processed to reply to you or send you what you asked for, and you decide that by submitting it.
Separately from all of the above, every request leaves a private technical log at Cloudflare with the IP address and the request identifier, for security and for diagnosing outages. Measurement events do not carry your IP. That log exists even if you object to measurement: without it a server cannot be run with any security at all.
How long each thing is kept
These periods are not an aspiration: they are the ones the code applies.
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Pseudonymous visitor identifier | 365 days, in your browser |
| Usage session | closes after 30 minutes of inactivity |
| Derived first touch (no click identifiers, no URL, no referrer) | 30 days |
| First campaign touch (click identifier, campaign and channel) | 360 days, and only if you consented to attribution |
| Your marketing preference | 180 days |
| Your objection to measurement | 2 years |
| Queue of unsent events, if you lose connectivity | up to 200 events and 7 days |
| Measurement events already received | 90 days, on our server |
| Technical security log, which does include your IP | 30 days, at Cloudflare |
Turn measurement off, right here
You do not have to explain why or write to us. This switch stores a local opt-out preference, takes effect immediately and stays as you leave it.
Checking the measurement status in this browser...
Your preference is stored in this browser and on this domain for two years, in a cookie named __Host-cryptomaniatics_medicion_no_v1. The __Host- prefix forces it to be secure and specific to this domain, and forbids any foreign subdomain from writing over it. If you change browser or device, or clear the site cookies, you will have to set it again.
While the preference is in place, first-party measurement does not load even if an earlier marketing preference was recorded. Google tags are governed separately by «Accept» or «Cancel» in marketing settings. The switch sends nothing to our server, so whatever was measured earlier expires on its own, after 90 days.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to rectify it, to erase it, to restrict its processing, to portability and, where applicable, to object. Here you can locally object to first-party measurement and cancel marketing use; for all other rights, write to us through the contact form on the home page.
Where processing is based on your consent you may withdraw it at any time, without affecting what was done before.
If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
